- Directs the day to day operations of Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Phlebotomy/ Central Processing, Point of Care, or LIS under the general direction of the Department Manager
- Ensure compliance with all JCAHO/ CAP standards
- Identify and resolve QC or equipment issues
- Establishes/ writes policies and procedures
- Monitors all quality indicators as outlined in the Laboratory Quality Plan
- Develop staffing schedules and adjust staffing as necessary
- Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory testing as well as communicate effectively with medical staff.
- Ability to work with patients of all ages: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
- Maintains a working knowledge of laboratory computer systems.
Minimum Education *High school diploma or equivalent is Required *Two years of college is Required *Associate’s degree is Required *Bachelor’s degree is Preferred

Required Skills/Certifications
Registration as a MT (or equivalent in specialty area i.e. chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank, etc.) by ASCP, NCA, AMT or other recognized agency; and at least 4 years of experience as a medical technologist are required.
