Job Description

J oin Trek as a Prep/Line Cook and dive into a dynamic role that keeps you at the heart of our culinary operations. You'll be responsible for bringing our weekly menu to life, preparing a delicious array of items – from savory meats, delectable sauces, to mouthwatering cookies and more. But your expertise doesn't stop there; you'll also play a pivotal role in our salad bar and line prep, creating sumptuous culinary experiences for our guests. Whether it's crafting meat and cheese sandwiches, burritos, or snack wraps, your skills will shine. Be ready to lend a hand at catering events, ensure our food bars are well-stocked, and maintain a clean, sanitary environment. Your commitment to safety and a friendly demeanor in interactions with both guests and colleagues will be crucial. Main Duties:

  • Prep items from weekly menu prep list; to include cookies, vegetables, meats, batch sauces, pastas and rice

  • assist with salad bar and line prep

  • prepare foods for other entrée bars including meat and cheese sandwiches, burritos, snack wraps, etc.

  • Help prepare food for catering events as needed.

  • Check and restock bars as needed including Grab & Go coolers.

  • Take down and properly store or dispose of leftover items. clean and sanitize all service bars.

  • Clean kitchen and cafeteria area(s).

  • Set-up and storage of equipment used to serve food.

  • Know and follow all safety and sanitary rules and regulations related to food handling.

  • Wipes down counters and café area ensuring it is ready for the following day.

  • Assists cafe staff as needed.

  • Stock guest’s utensil trays.

  • Check salad bar temperature to ensure food safety.

  • Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to Café Manager.

  • Comply with applicable state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.

  • Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with guests and staff.

  • Attends work regularly and is punctual.

Marginal Duties:

Marginal duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform all tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Attends staff meetings.

  • Serve guests lunches.

  • Operate kitchen equipment including dishwasher, slicer, mixer, oven, flat-grill, char-grill etc.

  • Put new stock away and rotate current stock, FIFO.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others’ ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate fluently verbally and written in English. Ability to read, comprehend and interpret simple instructions, safety rules and operating instructions.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to perform basic math skills involving monetary units.

  • Computer Skills: General knowledge of computer usage preferred

  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with staff, guests and co-workers. Ability to be highly organized and efficient in an environment that requires strict adherence to a schedule.

  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have or be able to obtain a valid Wisconsin Food Handler License and Wisconsin Driver License.

Schedule:

We are looking for 2 Line/Prep Cooks; hours are Monday - Friday from 6:00am - 2:00pm or 7:00am - 3:00pm (schedule will be determined by manager)

Compensation$17 - $18 per hour
