Scope of Work
The Charge Lead Nurse role is to provide direct oversight and supervision of all on line unit processes. This is inclusive of but not limited to staffing and scheduling changes affecting current shift, patient care issues and concerns. Appropriate allocation of resources responding to all codes, and handling employee issues and concerns. In addition to ensuring consistent flow of patients through the department. Functions within the framework of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates growth/development.
About this unit
5 Surgical is a 24-bed unit with all private rooms. We primarily care surgical and trauma patients, these surgeries include bariatric, general, trauma and gynecological patients. Although our focus is surgical and trauma related, we also care for patients with medical conditions as well. We are equipped to monitor up to 8 patients on portable telemetry monitors. The Surgical Unit is a wonderful place to advance in your nursing skills to include critical thinking, time management, assessment, and patient satisfaction. We are a talented and engaged team that is focused on patient safety and have maintained high-quality scores. Trenton is a Magnet Designated hospital with Level Two Trauma, and Stroke Certification. We are proud of the commitment in shared governance as it has strengthened the relationship between staff and our leadership team.

Qualifications
Required Associate's Degree or equivalent Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
Preferred Bachelor's Degree BSN
Required Bachelor's Degree For new hires or recent promotions with ADN or Diploma, must complete BSN within 5 years of hire.
2 years of relevant experience recent nursing experience. Required
LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
CRT-At least one Certification from preferred list - UNKNOWN Unknown Upon Hire required
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire preferred Or
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross preferred
