Title: Vice President, Programs (Behavioral Health)

Reports To: Chief Program Officer

Location: 56 Bay Street, Staten Island, NY 10301

Pay Rate: $96,300 - $110,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications

Schedule: This is a full-time, exempt position, generally working Monday-Friday

Most work at CHASI happens face to face. 1-2 remote days per week may be considered for this role following onboarding period.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President, Programs, is a member of Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI)’s senior leadership team responsible for planning, implementation, service monitoring, and ongoing development of the Behavioral Health programs at CHASI to primarily address the needs of community members struggling with substance use and their family members, using a Harm Reduction model. This portfolio is inclusive of the Next Step Resource and Recovery Center and Harm Reduction Health Hub. The Vice President will implement a vision of harm reduction as social justice, ensuring that those impacted by substance use disorders and other chronic health conditions have voice and access to the care needed. The Vice President provides strategic direction, promotes best practices, and leads activity to refine program operations to address emerging trends ensuring that commitment to outstanding service delivery is paramount. The Vice President directly supervises department managers.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in social work or mental health counseling required.

  • At least 6 years of program management experience, including experience overseeing programs related to the department’s functions and priority populations.

  • At least 4 years of experience supervising staff. Ability to work in a team setting and use effective communication skills and utilize trauma-informed supervision practices. Must have a strong leadership presence.

  • Strong managerial and administrative skills required. Command of quality management principles.

  • Ability to think critically and strategically.

  • Advanced computer skill, specifically Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint as well as internet navigation and ability to use and quickly learn new databases.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal/external sources as well as the ability to relate effectively to clients, front line staff, middle, and executive management as well as funders, policy makers, and the general public.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, service data, contracts, technical procedures, governmental regulations; able to write reports, P&P manuals, and professional correspondence.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Systems-oriented individual with change management experience a plus.
