Job Highlights:

Saint Louis University is currently seeking a breast imaging and interventional radiologist to join our breast imaging division. Join an experienced team of 4 breast radiologists in a department of 40 attending radiologists, recognized for its focus on lifelong learning and friendly collaboration. Work with and teach 36 radiology residents - this program is renowned for fostering independence in participants through hands-on learning.

We are an ACR Designated Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center (formally called ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, providing state of the art, comprehensive care, with the following:

  • Tomosynthesis / 3D mammography equipment with experienced mammography technologists

  • Prone tomosynthesis / 3D biopsy table

  • 2 dedicated breast ultrasound units with Elastography and experienced 2 full-time experienced breast sonographers

  • 3T Magnet for breast MRI and MRI-guided breast biopsies. MRI utilizes Dynacad software.

  • Magseed for image-guided localizations prior to surgery

  • Breast Imaging Fellowship, starting July 2024

  • Nurse navigators, biopsy nurses, and High Risk nurse

  • Volpara breast density software, CRA Health risk assessment software, and experienced genetic counselors

  • Experienced breast surgeon directly adjacent to our breast imaging office

  • Transpara AI software for mammography

Position Details

  • 0.8 to 1.0 FTE breast imaging

  • No nights, no weekends, no holidays, and no call on breast imaging schedule

Qualifications:

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent) and eligibility for full medical licensure in Missouri

  • Board certified or eligible in Diagnostic Radiology

  • Breast imaging fellowship preferred (experience considered in lieu of a breast imaging fellowship)

  • Proficient in all aspects of breast imaging, including mammography, tomosynthesis, ultrasound, MRI, and image-guided breast procedures, and localizations

  • MQSA compliant

  • Have a compassionate bedside manner

  • Be a team player

Job Summary:

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for obtaining call coverage by other medical staff members for holidays, vacations and other time off.

  • Responsible for the standard of practice for patient population.

  • Responsibility for maintaining a private office and all clinical decision making within the office during times of service.

  • Acts as an advisor and consultant in the establishment of operational policies of the practice to include: (1) Purchasing and capital allocations; (2) Managed care plan participation; (3) Budget and practice expenses; (4) Medicare/Medicaid participation; (5) Billing and collection of professional fees; (6) Personnel management and related policies; (7) Risk management and quality assurance; and (8) Coding compliance.

  • Responsible for after-hours call coverage for patients of the practice, in addition to office appointments.

  • Participates in community service activities, including speaking engagements, writing and special clinical programs as reasonably requested.

  • Responsible for all risk management, coding compliance and quality assurance activities and functions in and related to the practice.

  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.

  • Constant standing and walking.

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.

  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Occasional driving.

  • Rare crawling and running.
