Gas Maintenance Mechanic 3

WPS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Gas Maintenance Mechanic 3 or higher in our Stevens Point, WI location.

Job Summary

The Gas Maintenance Mechanic ensures safe and reliable operation of gas regulator facilities that control the pressure of natural gas flowing into gas distribution systems by installing, maintaining, calibrating, and repairing equipment associated with gate stations, regulator stations, regulator vaults, and large customers. This position may perform maintenance of gas mains, services, compliance surveys, and associated components such as investigate odor inquiries, set and test meter and regulator sets, and respond to customer inquiries.

Job Responsibilities

Perform annual inspection and overhaul of station regulators and relief valves:

  • adjust set point and test lock up and operations

  • complete inspection records

  • ensure parts inventory is maintained for overhaul as needed

Perform periodic inspections and maintenance, as needed on all gas gate and regulator station facilities:

  • change and analyze charts at time of change to verify normal operation of system

  • observe operation of distribution equipment

  • complete necessary paperwork

Maintain, adjust, and repair odorant injection system:

  • conduct weekly and monthly odor intensity checks as assigned

Maintain, adjust, and repair station heaters to ensure continuous operation:

  • complete inspection records

Perform inspections on large customer regulators when required:

  • perform or assist with lock up tests when scheduled on large customer installations

  • assist with installation of new large customer sets

Install, maintain, and repair transmitters and various alarm systems:

  • assist with installation and annual maintenance

  • calibrate pressure and temperature recorders and gauges

Set, install, maintain and exchange meter sets:

  • assist with main and service condition monitoring and remediation

  • complete necessary documentation

Ensure construction standards and operating procedures are followed

Participate in training programs to advance knowledge and skill level:

  • evaluate methods of maintaining gas facilities and equipment

Ensure after-hours response by participating in the after-hours call process

Facilitate customer satisfaction and integrity of system by responding to various inquiries and complaints

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED/HSED. A Gas Utility Construction and Service Technical Diploma or equivalent Technical Diploma is preferred.

  • Must have a minimum of 1-1/2 years of natural gas distribution and/or natural gas construction experience.

  • Valid Drivers’ License.
