Aerotek Assembly Technician in Niagara Falls, New York

Description:

-Receives instructions, route cards, shop orders and work assignments from Foreman or Fitter group leader

-Interprets route cards or prints covering customers returned pumps and drawings to determine and plan assembly operations

-Check parts delivered to assembly area against bill of material and reports shortage or irregularities.

-On repair units, visually inspects for wear or defects

-Uses torch to heat bearings and sleeves

-Assembles, dismantles, and fits casting and components parts, using files, taps, scarping tools and grinders to make proper fit and alignment

-Fits up to .002 tolerances

-Checks impeller diameters for specified dimensions, makes gaskets

-Assembles sleeves, impellers, using arbor press

-Lays out cast or fabricated bases and assembles and aligns pump head motor and coupling to complete the unit.

-On repair orders, makes bills of material noting parts to be replaced or shortages.

-Submits information to Foreman or Fitter leader

-Keeps immediate work area clean and orderly

Skills:

Assembly, Soldering, Blueprint, Mechanical, Hand tool, micrometers, calipers, schematic, mechanical assembly, Hand tools

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

-Interpret detailed assembly and complex parts drawings, plan work detail to obtain desired result

-Use tradesmen tools to deburr, fit, align and assemble component parts involving close tolerances

-Use close attention majority of shift

-Performs fitter, assembler work requiring frequent checking and close tolerances

-Moderate attention and care required to prevent damage to power and hand tools, gauges, electric hoist

-Assembly of centrifugal pumps

-Use a variety gauges, medium size tools for performing trades man's work, involving moderate physical exertion

-Precaution to safety and adhere all safety rules and compliance
