Disability Payroll Garnishment Administrator

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To provide garnishment administration in processing and auditing garnishments; to interpret and process garnishments, support orders and tax levies for multiple clients; and to ensure a high level of quality customer service is provided in responding to inquiries and resolving issues related to garnishments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives, interprets and enters garnishment orders in appropriate system(s) for multiple clients that do not send garnishment information via client interface; makes modifications to orders in appropriate system(s) as needed; and notifies appropriate parties of corrective actions needed for garnishment administration.

  • Processes garnishment responses and/or answers on a daily basis; Reviews and answers all interrogatories.

  • Determines employer responsibility based on the garnishment document and interpretation of state and federal laws governing various aspects of wage deduction standards.

  • Serves as main support contact for issue resolution between external garnishment administrator, operations and claimant.

  • Researches lien errors and works with JURIS Support to resolve errors in a timely manner.

  • Balances and transmits daily garnishment and tax file to third party vendor.

  • Is responsible for correspondence and inquiries received from plaintiffs, field offices and court representatives.

  • Maintains spreadsheets to track liens mailed or faxed to client offices, returned garnishment checks and credits from external administrator.

  • Creates and/or runs queries from appropriate system(s) as needed for research and balancing accounts.

  • Assists with client bank account reconciliation; processes IRS and California levies and miscellaneous verifications; and serves as backup for distributing financial reports to appropriate office(s).

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. College-level accounting courses preferred.

Experience

Four (4) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include three (3) years of demonstrated work experience in garnishment administration for large volume payroll (5,000+ payees).

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of accounting procedures

  • Knowledge of payroll fundamentals

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Analytical and interpretive skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
