Description
The primary function of this position is to provide a substance abuse prevention curriculum to middle school youth in Monroe County.
Engages in direct staff hours of service for assigned clients
Provides prevention counseling sessions to middle school students throughout Monroe County
Conducts group TGFDV lessons
Refers client to counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist when appropriate
Monitors Prevention activities including those performed by prevention specialist
Coordinates with schools and school personnel to provide TGFD classes
Attend Prevention Program quarterly meetings, training and annual conference
Functions as a liaison for prevention to outside agencies including schools, childrens shelter and outside agencies
Demonstrates empathetic, professional behavior toward student, families, and school personnel
Complete satisfaction surveys with participants
Enhance and implement changes noted in performance improvement activities
Participates in required staff development / training activities
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology or related field is required
Experience and Competencies:
Two years of related work experience in Mental Health, and / or Substance Abuse field preferred
Ability to meet requirements of Monroe County Sheriffs Office background check
CPR Certification, First Aid Certification and an annual Tuberculosis test.
Ability to provide an Affidavit of Good Moral Character
Clearance in Pre-Employment Drug Testing and Criminal Records Checks, as required.
