\ \ Veterinary Nursing Supervisor-Medicine Section\ \ Department: 3670080070 Veterinary Health Center\ Job no: 517320\ Employment type: Staff Full Time (Unclassified - Term)\ Location: Manhattan, Kansas\ Worksite: On-site requirement\ Categories: Health Profession, Veterinary Medicine, Medical\ Pay Grade: 10A\ \ \ About This Role:\ The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Nursing Supervisor to join our dedicated team to help provide exemplary patient care and customer service. This position plays a vital role in overseeing our nursing staff for the Medicine Section which includes Internal Medicine, Hill\'s Pet Health, Urgent Care, Emergency, Dermatology, and Oncology services. Nursing Supervisors provide a high-level of input on patient care and helps to direct the work flow in various areas of the hospital. This position holds many responsibilities including the assigning of daily tasks, management of staff hours, establishing of performance standards, and helping in the growth and development of veterinary nurses. This position is given the opportunity to advance their skillset through continuing education and various learning experiences. Working hours for Nursing Supervisors in this position will primarily include daytime hours Monday-Friday with occasional variances. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.\ \ What You\'ll Need to Succeed:\ Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and five years of relevant experience as a state redentialed veterinary technician (RVT, LVT, CVT).

\ Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic veterinary medical concepts, animal behavior and animal husbandry.
  • Advanced knowledge of nursing care, service flow, and section requirements.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and to be proactive in assisting others and caring for patients.
  • Knowledge of broader level hospital management.
  • Ability to lead other veterinary technicians while performing similar tasks.
  • Skilled in time management and prioritizing daily tasks.
  • Skilled in interpersonal communication, written and oral.
  • Skilled in basic computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to provide high level of input on patient care.
  • Ability to write policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic procedures.
  • Ability to adhere to appropriate safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in high intensity environment.
  • Ability to train other employees.
