ASM Global Bar Coordinator in Knoxville, Tennessee
ASM Global, the leader in privately-managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a bar coordinator at ASM Knoxville: Knoxville Convention Center and World's Fair Exhibition Hall. The position reports to the Food & Beverage Manger. This person is responsible for direct supervision of all bar activity in adherence with food and work safety codes as well as upholding the standards and duties of the department. Position is accountable for all bar functions. Position will lead bar teams in the organization, set-up, serving, administrative, and closing procedures that are assigned always ensuring positive guest experience. Role responsible for event-to-event bartender scheduling, inventory count, product ordering and rotation, and cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain communication with the Client, Directors, Food & Beverage Managers, Banquet Captains, Bar Leads, Catering Sales Managers and Event Managers during events
Responsible for directing all ASM Knoxville bar personnel in accordance with HR Policy and established approved bar practices
Be on duty prior to the start of events, in uniform, well groomed, and ready to go to work
Fulfilling the service per each Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and Concessions Event Order (CEO)
This position oversees and is accountable for all bar activity to include: set-up, management of point of sale system, and proper rotation of product and inventory counts for all ASM Knoxville venues
Oversee bar inventory management: rotation, organization, storage of product, and to ensure that all product counts are verified before, during, and after event daily for all ASM Knoxville venues
Must be able to perform all duties of each bar position as stated in bartender job description
Support goal for Health Department score of 90 or higher and manage the food safety processes and protocols for all bar storage and service
Must be able to positively adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
Understands and can describe bar menu offerings, packaging, and pricing to the team and guests
Create specific cocktails and bar menus per event when appropriate and/or requested
Maintaining all bar equipment cleanliness and preventative maintenance
Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be able to lead, communicate, work alongside with as well as delegate staff effectively and positively
Attention to detail and consistency of procedures and processes
Oversees all bar processes
Must be able to collaborate professionally with peers in other departments
Ensure that team members are ready to work, well groomed, in full uniform, mentally alert, and knowledgeable regarding policies, procedures, and banquet food and beverage menu items
Training and coaching per shift of bartenders
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regular lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling minimum of 25 lbs
Manual dexterity to operate office equipment such as a computer or POS system is required
Constant standing, walking, stooping, reaching
Handling of food and chemical products
Ability to work extended hours productively in a fast-paced, very physically demanding environment
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
Subject to high noise level
Possible exposure to weather conditions
Exposure to dust pollen and fumes, food allergens, and extreme changes in heat and cold
HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work to work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Must work 90% of all bar shifts across ASM Knoxville scheduled including bar set-up to retain position
SKILLS/ APTITUDES/ QUALIFICATIONS:
Always maintains a positive attitude and supports the company’s policies
Excellent organizational, planning, advanced oral and written communication skills, and inter-personal skills
Attention to detail and service oriented
Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks and work independently
Must be able to speak and understand English
Must be able to pass criminal and credit background check
Must possess a valid driver's license
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS:
Must or be able to obtain a TABC license within the first 61 days of hire
Serve Safe certification or Food Handler Card required within 90 days of hire
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent
Food and beverage supervisory experience required
5 years bartending experience required
Must comply to all other qualifications in bartender job description
