JOB DESCRIPTION:

Title: Counselor/Behavioral Health Technician

Reports to: Program Director / Clinical Director

Site: Behavioral Health Department

Purpose of the Job

Provides therapeutic services to substance abuse clients while under professional supervision pursuant to the

requirements of the Arizona Department of Licensure and the RCBH stated goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducts biopsychosocial assessments and required paperwork for new intakes.

Gather and assess information about; the relationship of the clients physical status to the dependence, the nature of

emotional compulsion to the problem; the intensity of the clients mental preoccupation with using drugs and alcohol

or other information on clients problems and needs.

Interpret information about the clients problem and develop a summary.

Make appropriate determination of the level and nature of treatment.

Assess client needs and overall situation to make proper referrals.

Investigates client eligibility for funded services.

Provide client orientation to the program and facilitate access to all services provided at RCBH.

Provide input and implement the treatment plan in conjunction with the treatment team, client and other client

representatives based on the clients problems and needs. Assures initial treatment plan is initiated with 7 days of

admission and updates are conducted at least quarterly.

Provide substance abuse or family & individual counseling to clients in a manner that considers safety, client rights,

comfort and a therapeutic environment.

Accurately observe and document counseling visits and occurrences within 24 hours of contact.

Provide community resource material to clients and other staff members. Assist clients in accessing community

services and resources as appropriate.

Complete documentation for enrollment and assessment for funded clients within required timeframes.

Attend staff meetings, clinical supervision meetings, and assigned trainings.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

This position requires a masters degree, or a Bachelors degree with one year of behavioral health experience.

Good visual and auditory acuity as well as good manual dexterity and the ability to be readily understood are

essential.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and be able to respond to emergencies.

Obtain fingerprint clearance card within 30 days of hire.

CPR & First Aid

Proof of valid Driver License & Car Insurance

Must have reliable transportation.
