The City of Henderson is excited to announce an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of SCADA Manager in the Department of Utility Services. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

The Department of Utility Services provides vital water and wastewater services to our citizens while protecting the environment, health and prosperity of our community. Under limited supervision, this position manages the planning, design, installation and maintenance of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for the Water and Wastewater facilities; and performs related duties as assigned.

Examples of Duties

  • Provides strategic and tactical planning for the SCADA system by establishing clear goals for the system, providing recommendations and cost estimates for upgrades, and evaluating all proposed and newly available system components for applicability and compatibility

  • Serves as technical asset for SCADA in programming, design, and design review and leads, coordinates, and manages the staff acting as a technical backup for all members of the staff

  • Maintains SCADA system capability in an evolving environment by managing and updating the SCADA Master Plan. Supervises the security, installation, maintenance, and repair of SCADA and directs the installation, configuration, and modification of software and hardware for SCADA.

  • Administers all aspects of software related to SCADA. Provides expertise to set standards custom to the operation and evaluates and recommends software purchases. Manages the software, both packaged and application, for the electrical section

  • Develops and manages all disaster recovery aspects for SCADA, control systems, and associated equipment. Reviews plans and specifications for new facilities and ensures proper design and installation criteria are met

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field

  • Six (6) years of progressively experience in a combination of planning, design, installation, and/or maintenance of utility automated control systems; two (2) years of which was in a management / supervisory role

  • Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered

  • Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483

  • Desirable: Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networking systems involving the complete end-to-end process of integration, performance, control, security, and monitoring
