Job Summary

The Undergraduate Teacher Residency District Liaison is a part-time (11-month) grant funded position that works with a cohort of undergraduate teacher residents (pre-service teachers) and their mentor teachers. The District Liaison will provide ongoing evaluation of the teacher residents’ instructional competency, delivering corresponding instructional coaching support. The District Liaison will also build relationships with residency mentors, facilitating the development of their coaching and mentoring capacity and coordinating professional development efforts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison between teacher residents, mentor teachers, school administrators, and the School of Education.

  • Engages in weekly on-site observation, instructional coaching, and mentorship at partner sites.

  • Recruits and retains mentor teachers, coordinating professional development opportunities to strengthen their mentorship strategies.

  • Attends university meetings and programs, including TQP leadership meetings and professional development, as appropriate.

  • Supports the practicum instructor in the fall and University Supervisor in the spring.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in elementary education, educational leadership, or closely related field. Five years elementary classroom teaching experience as a licensed educator.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of educator preparation.

  • Knowledge of diverse populations and cultures.

  • Skill in database management, including ability to gather, maintain and accurately report data.

  • Skill in the use of software applications including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Must have dependable transportation and be willing to travel to school-based internship sites within Forrest County.

Preferred Qualifications

Ten years of classroom teaching experience or combined 10 years of teaching and school administration experience. Current Mississippi Educator License. National Board Certification. Experience teaching or mentoring pre-service or in-service teachers. Experience delivering professional development.
