This is a job for a Commercial Review Appraiser position with a company located in Gulfport, MS.

JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY: Responsible for ordering and reviewing external commercial appraisals for the purpose of maintaining quality control, particularly related to technical accuracy and the reasonableness of value conclusions. Handles basic to moderate assignments; May assume supervisory responsibilities of local Appraisers including quality assurance, review duties, management of fee consultants and approval of fees; Works with a high level of autonomy with high decision making impact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct the appraisal bid and review processes, including engaging and consulting with contract reviewers. Ensure compliance with Hancock Bank Appraisal Department policies, and with federal and state regulations, including FIRREA and USPAP. Research, study and analyze market trends as well as property valuation data. Provide insight and technical interpretations of real estate market conditions and trends to management. Provide feedback to fee appraisers with respect to service level expectations in valuation assignments in terms of product quality, efficiency and customer service. Ensure quality, timely and cost effective valuation products. Read and analyze appraisal reports and data on a daily basis to determine reasonableness and accuracy. Additional Duties: Provide internal consulting for Hancock Bank-Whitney Bank associates. Provide vendor appraiser consulting/mentoring. Select appraisers in areas outside our service area for commercial bids. Abide by Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and keep current with these standards as well as regulatory rules and policy. Provide technical coaching and counseling to outside appraisers during assignments. Participate in the training and development in loan officer orientations. Prepare overview of market trends report on a quarterly basis. Oversee the gathering, reviewing, and posting of quarterly market reports from s outside vendors. Oversee the data integrity of the comparable database. Occasional travel required for property site inspections for internal purposes. Special projects may be assigned. Perform backup duties for other positions in the group as deemed necessary. Other duties and special projects as assigned by Senior Management. Incumbent is required to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisory responsibilities within the bank but the incumbent will be responsible for supervising multiple external vendors.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor's degree. Three to five years related experience. Experience in valuing and reviewing a variety of commercial property types is required. Incumbent must hold and maintain a State-Certified General Appraiser credential. Experience in an appraisal review capacity within a financial services institution preferred. Membership/designation in a professional appraisal association/society preferred. Advanced knowledge of appraisal management specifically of commercial properties. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Excellent communication, analytical, customer service and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel. Strong presentation and training skills.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines. Ability to travel as needed to perform the essential duties of this job. Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions.
