This is a job for a Tool Design Engineer in Grenada, MS

 

Overview : Design of a broad range of HVAC manufacturing tooling, including progressive dies, and supporting components for onsite and global manufacturing operations. Design jigs and fixtures for production and experimental use. Study specifications and confer with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design challenges related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and costs of tooling.

 

 

Responsibility : Design and detail a broad range of high-precision tooling, primarily consisting of progressive dies and gauges. Plan, conduct research, and implement engineering on complexity tooling projects. Work on miscellaneous tooling process problems related to production down time, loss of or low efficiency, or quality deviations. Identify and review sources of technical information. Make recommendations on potential research projects with regard to tooling processes for the division/product line. Create and maintain BOMs, part numbers, prints and other technical documentation necessary to manufacture and operate tooling

Participate in product & tooling design reviews and critique designs from a technical perspective, including Design for Manufacturability. Coordinate with a cross-functional team on tooling projects. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of tooling processes in order to reduce production down time, improve efficiency, and reduce quality deviations. Interact with sales, accounting, purchasing, manufacturing, product design and suppliers/customers. Convey information clearly and effectively through formal and informal documents

 

 

Qualifications :· B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline is preferred. Equivalent experience in a directly related role will be considered in lieu of a degree.

5 or more years of experience in tool design, with an emphasis on progressive dies. Significant exposure to diemaking, metal stamping, and metal forming processes and equipment. Proficiency in SolidWorks 3-D modeling. Knowledge of GD&T dimensioning and SPC. Current knowledge of die maintenance procedures and best practices. Experience with developing new tooling designs or major design upgrades for various types of tooling. Familiar with SAP
