BPL Plasma Data Scientist in Fort Lee, New Jersey

Position : Data Scientist

Location : Fort Lee, NJ

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide direct insight to the business through advanced approaches to data gathering, curation, analysis, and provision/publication. The data scientist will additionally provide support for data-centric initiatives and make recommendations on data-centric practices.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Develop and publish business intelligence reports and dashboards showing trends and drilldown capability, formulated in consultation with functional leaders to support business processes and performance evaluation vs Key Performance Indicators.

  2. Perform ad hoc analyses and create ad hoc reports per business needs to produce, provide, and promote useful insight.

  3. Design and build effective machine learning models and datasets to investigate and address questions posed by business functions and leaders. Output will include, in part, cluster analysis, probabilistic predictions with explanatory tables, and visualizations.

  4. Train users of BI/AI output (dashboards/machine-derived analysis). Mentor users in data best practices to promote shareable and useful data and analyses.

  5. Research and make recommendations on data gathering to fuel analytics.

  6. Attend internal and external team meetings where appropriate to understand priorities and opportunities.

  7. Share responsibility to monitor and maintain accuracy of the data sources and repositories.

  8. Stay abreast of developments/capabilities of analysis tools and applications to strengthen predictive analytics.

  9. Other job-related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum Bachelor's degree. Advanced STEM or business degree preferred.

  2. Education/training/certification in analytics, statistics and/or machine learning.

  3. Minimum four years' experience gathering requirements, creating and sharing data analytics, and training/mentoring teammates in best data practices.

  4. Strong communication, analytical and statistical skills.

  5. Proficiency in tools (including programming languages) used for data science and analytics, including SQL, R stats, Python, business intelligence (Power BI preferred), Microsoft Office applications, etc.
