Flint Community Schools Paraprofessional, Title I in Flint, Michigan
Job Summary:
The Paraprofessional provides assistance to teachers, and other school personnel, in the delivery of quality education and support services for students, in an array of classroom settings.
Essential Functions:
- Works under the supervision of the teacher by assisting with instructional and non-instructional duties as directed.
- Listens to, reads to, and redirects individual and small student groups toward assignment completion.
- Works with small groups of students for specific instructional purposes.
- Assists students, on an individual basis, who have difficulty in understanding directions.
- Assists the teacher in the preparation of instructional materials.
- Accompanies the teacher and class on field trips.
- Assists with the operation of audio-visual equipment.
- Assists with classroom clerical work, daily activity logs,.
- Assists the teacher with interviews and enrollments of students, when appropriate.
- Assists teacher in the health and parent programs, when appropriate.
Qualifications:
Education -- Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Earned at least 60 semester hours of college credit, or
- Obtained an associate degree (or higher), or
- ETS Parapro Assessment (score at least 460)
- College Board's SAT (score at least 480 on evidence-based reading/writing and a score of 530 on math)
