Home Health- Occupational Therapist (Bedford)

Home Health is looking to hire a full-time OT for the Bedford area. As an OT you will provide age-sensitive professional occupational therapy services in the home setting, including assessment, intervention, treatment, and instruction to patients of all ages to maximize functional abilities and ensure optimal care.

Monday-Friday 8:00 am- 4:30 pm (no on-call or weekends) with flexible scheduling opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Standard ResponsibilitiesPerforms in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Focuses on customer service and continually strives to perform the duties of their job in a manner that will result in optimal patient satisfaction.

  • Identifies develops and participates in process improvement opportunities within the home health agency that will enhance the quality of services we provide.

  • Performs duties and job responsibilities in a fashion which coincides with the service management philosophy of UPMC Home Healthcare towards patients, visitors, staff, peers, physicians and other departments within the organization.

  • Continually develops professional skills by assuming responsibility for on-going continuing education.

  • Assigns and supervises the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

  • Advises and consults with the family, inter-intradisciplinary team members, physicians and other professionals, as appropriate, to ensure optimal patient care.

  • Maintains and completes all documentation promptly and accurately including visit assessment, OASIS, 485 and Verbal Orders on the laptop device or in written documentation while in the patient's home and within the agency and regulatory standards. Data syncs (transmits) information same day.

  • Provide occupational therapy services and participates in the development of an occupational therapy plan of treatment including modalities, frequency and treatment in collaboration with the referring physician for patients from birth to geriatrics to assist patient in obtaining maximum functional independence within the standards of occupational therapy.

  • Evaluates, plans, and treats patients in an effective Occupational Therapy Program including the use of modalities and assistive devices within the Standards of Occupational Therapy Practice.

  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association; orIs eligible for the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association; or Two (2) years of appropriate experience as an occupational therapist, and has achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiency examination conducted, approved, or sponsored by the U.S. Public Health Service, except that such determinations of proficiency donot apply with respect to persons initially licensed by a State or seeking initial qualification as an occupational therapist after December31, 1977 required.One (1) year of Occupational Therapy experience to practice without supervision or less than one (1) year if practicing undersupervision, i.e., ALF/PCH, required. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support OR Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Edit Occupational Therapist Effective Date 03/30/2010 Effective Sequence 0National Board Certification in Occupational therapy preferred.

  • Member of American Occupational Therapy Association is preferred.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Automotive Insurance

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Driver's License

  • Occupational Therapist (OT)

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34
