DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities Penn Southern Beltway 1

What you'll be challenged to do: Under supervision, and at times independently, perform duties in site assessment evaluations that include: wetland and stream delineation, threatened & endangered species surveys, habitat assessments and threatened and endangered species coordination. Also perform duties involved in submittal of 401/404 permit applications, NEPA document preparation and correspondence with various regulatory agencies such as USACE, PADEP, and USFWS. 

Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaption and modification of techniques, procedures and criteria.  Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.  Receives technical guidance from senior professional on unusual or complex problems. Conducts cursory QA/QC prior to compiling data and submitting reports to senior level staff for internal review.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be included): * Responsible for GPS data collection/download/correction, and digital map-making using appropriate software, when needed. * Responsible for accurately reading, interpreting, understanding, and applying information contained on various types of maps (e.g. topographical maps, soils maps, boundary surveys, etc.). * Responsible for preparing clear and concise written reports and maps based on field inspections of evaluated sites (under supervision). * Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and/or coordinating detailed phases of medium to large projects or several small projects at any given time. * Conducts site meetings with regulatory agencies when needed. * Meets with clients and regulatory agencies as needed and can communicate needed information. * Can independently review and comment on site design plans or other maps as needed. * Ability to disseminate local, State and Federal government regulatory information to various individuals (i.e. clients, general public, etc.). * Able to perform duties listed under physical demands.

Qualifications What you bring to our firm: * Bachelor's degree in Botany, Natural Resources, Forestry, Soil Science, Hydrology, Zoology, Biology, Environmental Science, or similar with 1 to 5 years of experience. * An extensive working knowledge of environmental regulations, the Clean Water Act and State Regulations is required. Experience in identifying wetland field indicators, stream identification methodology and identifying Threatened & Endangered Species and their habitat is also required.  * The ability to understand and apply local, State and Federal government ordinances and regulations related to wetlands, streams and Threatened & Endangered Species is needed. * Experience with a GPS, GIS, and/or AutoCAD preferred. * Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members. * Actively advocates for full inclusion in the workplace, fostering an environment that welcomes diversity and values equity for all employees, partners, clients, and the communities that TranSystems serves. * To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the above listed job requirements.  Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
