Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Senior Director of Learning and Development in Durant, Oklahoma

We are looking for a Senior Director of Learning & Development executive who will lead the corporate L&D department of more than 26 professionals with a multi-million-dollar budget. As a corporate L&D director, this leader will oversee the design, strategy, implementation, and measurement of learning based on the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma business strategy for a diverse set of business verticals which includes hospitality, casino operations, food & beverage, retail, health, housing, education, agriculture and more. This executive will work with existing business area stakeholders to deliver learning that benefits the mission, vision, and values of the Nation while also delivering customized course offerings by verticals that unifies the verticals into one cohesive tribe.

Starting Salary: 165k

The mission will be to:

  • Strategically plan for and execute a multi-year strategy of a broad range of innovative training programs that support and align with the organization’s short and long-term objectives.

  • Manage, develop, and lead a high functioning learning and development team to ensure the delivery of exceptional training materials and sessions that will advance the skills and expertise of the CNO workforce.

  • Develop inclusive and productive training and development programs across the organization, including facilitator-led training, self-guided courses, and other blended learning experiences to facilitate associate and leadership development and growth.

  • Develop success metrics for learning programs and leverage data to drive decisions for improvements where necessary based on feedback mechanisms, competency evaluations, and ongoing analysis of key metrics.

  • Serve as a strategic partner to collaborate and build strong relationships with departmental and senior leadership to identify training gaps and needs to develop customized training and development opportunities.

  • Evaluate and report the effectiveness of training and development programs to HR leadership and key stakeholders making recommendations as needed.

  • Continuously research and stay informed of the latest trends and best practices in training and development, incorporating new ideas to enhance learning experiences.

  • Identify best practices for the LMS and have a continuous improvement mindset that identifies opportunities to improve and maximize the system.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Adult Learning, Organizational Development, Education, or related field or 6+ years related experience (Masters preferred)

  • Understanding of Adult Learning Design/Application

  • Demonstrated experience in building training programs and developing staff to support successful execution.

  • Able to lead and execute complex projects.

  • Ability to operate in a highly matrixed environment.

  • Strong experience in developing strategy tied to roadmaps and tactical delivery.

  • Excellent leadership, facilitation, and communication skills.

  • Ability to influence with indirect or no authority. Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to teach, coach and mentor.

  • Self-starter with excellent organization skills.

  • Eleven (11) years of relevant training and development experience in a leadership role. (15+ years experience preferred)

  • Professional Instructional Design and or Facilitation certification.

  • Extensive experience leading initiatives with a demonstrated ability to see the “big picture”.

  • Ability to influence with indirect or no authority. Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Superior communication skills that result in high levels of cooperation and interdepartmental collaboration.

  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining world-class training programs.
