Coordinates and performs screening and diagnostic mammograms. Instructs and educates patients on self-breast exams.
Job Description
Essential Functions:
Performs Screening and Diagnostic Mammography Imaging
Accepts accountability for own work and team outcomes when appropriate.
Reports promptly any critical or unusual situations.
Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety through proper use of restraint/support devices.
Conducts required Quality Control as determined per supervisor: Processor, Mammogram units, Record and file data.
Assists Radiologist or surgeon with biopsies (provides post breast biopsy care of patient; locates films and reviews priors with physician before biopsy)
Takes inventory and orders supplies
Identifies each patient and reviews each patient’s requisition.
Assists with Federal regulations regarding follow up mammograms and documentation as requested by supervisor.
Assists Central Scheduling with schedule and questions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Experience Required
- ARRT (R ) certification
Minimum Experience Preferred
- ARRT (M) certification
Minimum Education Required
Graduate of a recognized, approved American Medical Association Council of Education program in radiologic technology.
Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Advanced certification in mammography required within eighteen (18) months of hire date.
Minimum Education Preferred
- Completion of an accredited x-ray program
Required Skills/Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to communicate effectively in an emergency situation.
Basic typing and computer skills.
Experience in operating personal computers in a Windows environment.
Customer service oriented.
