Robert Half Accounting Assistant in Dayton, Ohio

Description

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounting Assistant located in Dayton, Ohio. This role will be instrumental in the day-to-day operations of our Accounting department, with the primary function of managing contract and subcontract work, liaising between various departments, and ensuring accurate documentation and billing. The ideal candidate will be proficient in several accounting software systems, including ADP, Great Plains, and Microsoft Excel, with a strong understanding of accounting functions such as Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and supervise on-site contract work and maintain accurate records.

• Pre-qualify bidders for contract packages and negotiate and award contracts.

• Ensure contractual obligations are met, including monthly certified payroll submissions.

• Act as a liaison between owners, contractors, project management, and other departments.

• Receive and approve all contractor invoices.

• Maintain project rental equipment log and fuel consumption reports.

• Review contract and monthly billing for the project and assemble required documentation for submission.

• Assist with purchase orders and subcontract set-up, tracking, and closeouts.

• Maintain subcontractor records, including updated COIs, W9s, and other required documentation.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Construction experience preferred.

Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Experience with ADP - Financial Services

• Familiarity with Great Plains (GPAC) accounting software

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suites

• Knowledge of Accounting Functions

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) procedures

• Understanding of Billing Functions

• Ability to manage Cash Activity effectively

• Experience in handling Purchase Orders
