ITW Shakeproof Industrial Products (SIP), serves major OEMs, mid and large distributors in the North American industrial market. As a leader in the design and manufacture of value-added threaded screws, fasteners, and lock washers, ITW Shakeproof Industrial focuses on customer's needs, supplying solutions to the unique (or common) challenges our customer's face. We are looking for a Material Handler to join our team! The material handler position is responsible for moving material as needed to proper areas, shipping and receiving all goods properly entering into the Inventory Management System.

Shift time 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Move raw material (wire and components) to machines as needed.

  • Move and weigh up product from machines to staging and shipping areas

  • Move raw material to designated location in facility

  • Organize empty tubs and wire carriers into cargo boxes

  • Reads product processing form or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials to be moved

  • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products

  • Loads and unloads materials on or from pallets, trays, racks, or carrier

  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit

  • Counts, weighs, and records numbers of unites of materials moved or handles on interplant form and key-in pan tickets for production reporting

  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area

  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials and make ID tags from information provided by suppliers

  • Prepares purchase blanks for shipments by removing from container and dumping parts into bins and attaching proper documents

  • Assigns lot numbers to raw material and maintains required records

  • Sign for packages and bring to proper locations using scanner and alphanumeric codes

  • Occasionally perform light maintenance to help maintenance department

  • Remove scrap and record weight

  • Performs daily forklift inspections and documents findings.

  • Work with the leadership team to ensure timely movement in and out of the plant.

  • Other duties as instructed.

  • High School diploma or the equivalent required; Associates degree preferred

  • 1-3 years’ experience working in a plant/warehouse setting, experience in material handling preferred

  • Continuous Improvement Mindset

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Basic math skills including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide

  • Ability to operate computer and familiarize Microsoft Office Suite

  • Familiar with inventory management system

  • Stand up and Sit-Down Forklift experience required.

  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.

  • Understanding and compliance with safety rules and regulations

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
