Supplemental Information

The Louisiana Public Service Commission:

The Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC) is an independent regulatory agency dedicated to serving the public interest by assuring safe, reliable, and affordable services are provided by public utilities and motor carriers. The LPSC consists of five elected Commissioners, each responsible for statewide policy, but directly elected to represent their district. One of those Commissioners, Mike Francis, Commissioner of LPSC District 4, is in search of a motivated, fast learner, with a desire to work in public policy and acquire knowledge of the regulatory and energy industry.

Technical Assistant – Louisiana Public Service Commission; District 4:

This position serves as a special assistant to the Executive Assistant in the carrying out of objectives and projects for the Public Service Commissioner of LPSC District 4. Broadly, such objectives include public policy initiatives, regulation of all LPSC jurisdictional entities, and service to the Commissioner’s district constituents. The Technical Assistant answers directly to the Executive Assistant and ultimately to the Commissioner.

The Technical Assistant will spend time learning the daily responsibilities of the Commissioner, Executive Assistant, and District team, assess workflow shortfalls, and introduce solutions to streamline organization, communication, and planning. The technical assistant will add value each day by ensuring issues do not blindside the team, schedules are maintained, and projects are accounted for and progressing. A successful Technical Assistant will, as their experience grows, be able to stand in for the Executive Assistant when needed and represent the Commissioner at private and public events.

Travel Requirement: From time to time, this position will require travel throughout LPSC District 4, which is an 18-parish territory. Special projects may require travel outside of District 4 and/or the State, but on a very limited basis.

Day-to-Day Requirements: Commissioner Francis prioritizes work-life balance and time with family. Therefore, most work is completed in normal business hours. However, the political nature of this position could occasionally require attending evening events or dinner meetings.

To Apply: Please email a resume, references, and a one-page brief explaining your qualifications for this position to sarah.rogers@la.gov. If selected for an interview, travel expenses incurred for the interview will not be reimbursed.

For additional information, please contact Sarah Rogers, Human Resources Director, at 225.219.7541 or by the above email.
