The BD Project Manager will oversee and manage acquisition pursuit activities from inception through contract execution as well as documents and tracks statewide BD program activities. This position will also perform additional duties as requested or required to support the Business Development activities of the company. _ Key Accountabilities_ * Conducts the Weekly Business Development meeting with senior managers and other key staff. Documents and tracks business development activities for the State. * Leads and coordinates assigned bid development activities with other departments including operations, engineering, legal, rates, finance, external affairs, environmental compliance, safety, security and others to assure adequate due diligence has been conducted to populate the financial model. * Prepare business case for decision makers to ensure there is a complete understanding of the opportunity including condition, compliance, financials, risks and the local and political climate surrounding the opportunity. * Work with the BD proposal manager and/or Communications Specialist to develop compelling and compliant bid/proposal response and ensure that proposal submissions are compliant with the applicable instructions as well as department & corporate policy; produce and perform rigorous quality assurance on both draft and final products; facilitate formal and informal proposal reviews and ensure bid/proposal submissions are delivered on time. * Coordinates with consultants for asset valuation studies and financial analysis and operational viability studies of targeted opportunities. * Develops appraisal bid documents and oversees appraisal process. * Manages the Division’s acquisition approval process. * Create market awareness and interest in American Water, and develop and maintain American Water brand image with the key industry stakeholders within the designated territory, interface directly or indirectly with lower level environmental regulators, attend municipal and public meetings as required, plans and staffs trade shows and industry events. * Conduct bid/proposal lessons learned and document and implement actions to continually improve overall process; provide on-going feedback about market viability, e.g. pricing, structure, competitive position, etc. * Support other business development, operational, and corporate initiatives such as creating white papers, participating in strategy and information sessions, developing presentation materials, and providing writing and editing support to client-facing corporate members. * Liase with leadership and stakeholders where necessary, to keep abreast of developments and to facilitate effective coordination. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Microsoft Office Product Suite (including PowerPoint, Word and Excel), SAP (or comparable customer service system), Salesforce (preferred), AND Working knowledge of utility tariffs and/or operations a plus. * Strong organizational skills and attention to details with the ability to support several projects simultaneously. * Ability to think logically and analytically. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral). * Strong business and financial acumen (Utility and/or acquisition experience preferred). * Previous experience in business development or back office support desired. * Project Management experience a plus. * Ability to work both individually and within a team environment. _ Experience/Education_ * Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Project Management or similar degree required. * Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, acquisitions, project management or utility management. * Utility experience strongly preferred with water and/or waste water experience a plus. * Excellent computer skills;
