M&T Bank Business Risk Manager I (Hybrid) in Buffalo, New York

Overview:

Part of the Regulatory and Operations Control Monitoring team, this position will oversee credit file deliveries, including regulatory exams and external agency reviews, with oversight of a small team. They will manage various Operational Control functions within Commercial Credit Administration, principally those focused on approval monitoring controls. Work directly with the Line of Business Managers to escalate and provide feedback on Credit File completeness and will provide management oversight for the Credit file process and controls. Will support and lead regulatory initiatives as assigned. Project facilitation and implementation related to credit file.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership over Credit file pull initiatives on behalf of commercial Credit, including the organization and delivery of complete credit files as required by the State and Federal regulators as well as other agencies as requested.

  • Develop and drive Credit file QC processes within the commercia portfolio, working closing with applicable lines of business to provide feedback and ensure completeness.

  • Manage various monitoring controls, regulatory oversight and operational processes as prescribed by credit policy.

  • Proactively identify gaps within controls and processes and develop remediation plans to resolve.

  • Identify emerging risks and risks associated with new products/ services/ markets/ channels or changes to existing products/ services/ markets/ channels.

  • Provide guidance on the development of remediation plans. Manage the timely completion of remediation plans and other projects to address issues identified internally and by Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit or external regulators.

  • Develop, implement and oversee the maintenance of policies and procedures for the business unit. This includes the updating of policies in response to federal, state or business unit process changes. In addition, assist in responding to both internal and external requests in relation to departmental policies and procedures.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the staff. Review and approve test results. Build a working relationship with business unit management, Internal Audit, Corporate Operational Risk and Corporate Compliance Portfolio Managers.

  • Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.

  • Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience (i.e., commercial, credit, compliance, risk or similar experience), or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience (i.e. commercial, credit, compliance, risk or similar experience). 2-3 years supervisory experience preferred.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $85,104.04 - $141,840.07 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
