GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

The Assistant Director is responsible for meeting the program's objectives, assisting with the management of fiscal resources, and some staff supervision.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Director with the hiring, training, and supervision of staff in accordance with GCC policies and procedures.

Organization of fiscal resources.

Establish programs in target-school districts and develop positive relationships with area agencies, community members/parents, and secondary/postsecondary institutions.

Maintain programs' and participants' records and submit required reports in an accurate and timely manner to the U. S. Department of Education and GCC.

Develop and implement comprehensive marketing/public relations plans for recruitment of students.

Coordinate and/or provide in-service training programs for program personnel.

Coordinate with the Director to facilitate an Advisory Committee (supporting the development and capacity building goals of the Committee) and program evaluation.

Coordinate external student services and work with the Dean of Distributed Learning to facilitate Distance Learning Hubs.

Increase recruitment (publishing digital marketing content) and outreach to rural communities in the GLOW region.

Facilitate pre-apprenticeship bootcamps and job-readiness activities, in collaboration with staff and partners.

Some travel will be required. This will include visiting rural schools, tabling at college and career fairs in the community, and developing mutual referral partnerships with non-profit and municipal agencies that serve rural communities.

Fulfill other related responsibilities as requested by the Pathway to Success Director or the Vice President of Student and Enrollment Services.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

Bachelor's degree in education, business, communication, or related field required.

Preferred

Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of three years' experience in educational program(s) and a minimum of two years working with rural students, at-risk students, or potential first- generation college families preferred. Preferred work experience includes program/project management, grants; staff supervision; financial management skills; and knowledge of budgets.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Preference will be given to candidates: 1) with similar backgrounds that have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the students, 2) who demonstrate their ability to work effectively with a variety of types of students and their parents/guardians, target school personnel, postsecondary institutions and students, and collaborating agencies, and, 3) who demonstrate understanding of people with diverse cultural and racial backgrounds.

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Director of Pathway to Success. This position assists in supervision of the following personnel:

Pathway to Success grant funded Student Success Coaches located at Genesee Community College and working in alternate locations.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a full-time, twelve-month, grant-funded position in year 3 of a 3-year contract which is set to end 12/31/24. Position is compensated at a rate of $45,344.88 annually. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. The program's main office is currently located at the Main Campus in Batavia, NY and the target schools are in Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties. Must have reliable transportation. Salary, benefits, and conditions of employment are set by the GEA contract.
