Ashtabula County Job & Family Services is seeking a: Clerical Specialist (Child Support Unit).

Job Responsibilities:

Under general supervision of the Administrative Assistant Supervisor, the Clerical Specialist, CSEA, is responsible for preparing intermediate-level correspondence independently according to standard operating procedure as well as providing clerical support to the unit. Performs general clerical tasks (e.g., scans mail received for the agency, prepares scanned documents to be mailed back to customers, receives and date stamps incoming mail, distributes mail to appropriate units, views or edits scanned documents, manages the destruction of scanned documents, assembles agency packets, uploads received faxes, creates and laminates signs and/or business cards, etc.); assists as backup as necessary. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of secondary education or equivalent (high school diploma or GED); related experience and/or training preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

Knowledge of: modern computer skills and computer applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office; *County, Department, and Division goals and objectives; *County, Department, and Division policies and procedures; *personnel rules and regulations; government structure and process; *ODJFS computer systems; state and federal regulations; customer service; office practice and procedures; social services policies, programs, rules, and regulations.

Ability to: carry out simple instructions; deal with many variables and determine specific action; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; read, copy, and record figures accurately; develop and maintain effective working relationships; interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, picture, or schedule form; maintain accurate records; exercise independent judgment and discretion; work independently; communicate effectively; maintain confidentiality; resolve complaints from public; handle sensitive inquiries from and contacts with officials and general public; add, subtract, multiply, and divide; calculate fractions, decimals and percentages; prepare routine correspondence; prepare accurate documentation; compile and prepare reports.

Hours:  M -- F, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Wage: $13.26
